Steubenville Self-Defense /Combatives
Classes Ongoing at YMCA Tuesday and Thursday at 6 PM
We are an ongoing group that train in self-defense applications. Classes consist mostly of paired practice in which students learn principles of dealing with violent attacks to defend themselves, practice variations and pressure test their reactions. What we practice is Stealth Combatives primarily based on the curriculum of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu and other reality based systems with an emphasis on the most simple and reliable applications for ambush scenario attacks. We work on scenarios that teach students how to deal with fear, diffuse situations and protect themselves in situations in which they may be targeted. Such training is both traditional and modern in its approach in that we preserve traditional training methods while applying them to contemporary situations. We have a reality based approach that consists primarily of strikes, kicks, joint manipulation and throws. This is not a competitive approach that is sport oriented. It is meant for anyone who wants to learn how to defend themselves.
If you are interested in observing a class, please email me and we can set up a time to check out a class. We meet three days a week: Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 to about 7:15 PM. Ages 14 and up. All are welcome and no experience is necessary.
