Azusa Bujinkan Dojo

Attention:  Classes are have been canceled until pandemic is over.

The Azusa Bujinkan Keiko Kai is a small group of serious martial arts enthusiasts who train in the traditional Japanese martial art of Budo Taijutsu. This is the name given by our Grandmaster, Masaaki Hatsumi who started the organization known as the Bujinkan to teach and spread the traditional arts of the ninja. Under the umbrella of Budo Taijutsu, we practice aspects of 6 traditional Japanese martial lineages which range in age from from being 500 to over 1000 years old..

We provide a standardized curriculum as taught by the  International Bujinkan Dojo Association (IBDA) under the guidance of Shihan Richard Van Donk.   Our repertoire consists primarily of striking, kicking, throwing  and submission holds with a focus on self-defense and not sport applications.    Although traditional Jujitsu uses similar skills, Budo Taijutsu techniques are known for their subtlety, and the use of deceptive movements.   We teach strong basics as a foundation coupled with street effective self-defense.     A new student can expect to learn useful skills immediately to protect themselves from common assaults.  Training time consists of working with different training partners, and not practicing endless forms or drills.  After learning the principles behind a technique, students will creatively explore variations which allows for more creative expression.  Experience the physical benefits of  better balance, spatial awareness and coordination!  Experience the mental benefits of better self-confidence, spontaneity and resourcefulness
